Specifications verified against ASUS’s official TUF Gaming A17 (2023) technical sheet. Some figures, such as battery capacity, differ between regional FA707 configurations.
Yes, for 1080p gaming. The RTX 4050 is NVIDIA’s entry RTX 40-series laptop GPU, built on the Ada Lovelace architecture. It supports DLSS 3 with Frame Generation, ray tracing and NVIDIA Reflex. At the panel’s native 1920×1080 resolution, here is what to expect:
The main limit is the 6GB of video memory. In the newest games, very high texture settings can use more than that. Dropping textures one step keeps performance smooth. G-SYNC removes screen tearing, so frame rates in the 60–100 fps range still feel fluid.
Most RTX 4050 laptops in the UAE have 15.6- or 16-inch screens. The TUF A17 gives you a 17.3-inch anti-glare panel. That means more room for games, spreadsheets, timelines and split-screen work, which suits people who game at a desk. Adaptive sync (G-SYNC) is also supported through the USB-C port when you connect an external monitor.
The Ryzen 7 7445HS uses AMD’s efficient 4nm Zen 4 architecture. In Geekbench 6 its single-core performance is about 15% faster than the older Ryzen 7 7735HS. Single-core speed matters most for high frame rates in games, and it also helps everyday apps feel quick. The trade-off is two fewer cores than the 7735HS, so heavy multi-threaded rendering is slightly slower.
ASUS tests the TUF chassis against the MIL-STD-810H military standard for drops, vibration, humidity and extreme temperatures. It suits students carrying it to university, and gamers in a hot UAE summer.
This is one of the few budget gaming laptops that is easy to upgrade:
The ports cover everything a gaming setup needs:
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| RTX 4050 with DLSS 3 at an entry-level price | Display covers 62.5% sRGB, so it isn’t suited to colour-accurate photo or print work |
| Large 17.3″ 144Hz G-SYNC screen | 2.6 kg: portable, but best as a desk replacement |
| Upgradeable to 64GB RAM, plus a second SSD slot | 56Wh battery: plan to game while plugged in |
| Full port set including HDMI 2.1, USB-C PD and Ethernet | Ships with FreeDOS, so a Windows licence is extra |
| MIL-STD-810H tested build | 6GB of video memory limits ultra textures in the newest games |
Consider something else if: you mainly edit colour-critical photos or video, or you carry your laptop all day. For more graphics power in a 15.6″ chassis, the MSI Katana 15 HX with RTX 5060 is a step up. The Lenovo LOQ Essential with RTX 5050 8GB comes with Windows 11 preinstalled.
| Laptop | GPU | Screen | From (AED) |
|---|---|---|---|
| ASUS TUF Gaming A17 FA707NUG | RTX 4050 6GB | 17.3″ FHD 144Hz | 3,835 |
| Lenovo LOQ Essential 15ARP11 | RTX 5050 8GB | 15.6″ FHD 144Hz | 4,249 |
| MSI Katana 15 HX | RTX 5060 8GB | 15.6″ QHD 165Hz | 4,820 |
| HP OMEN 16 | RTX 5060 8GB | 16″ 165Hz | 5,399 |
